Intense ruby overlaid with garnet. Very fresh aromas of ripe plum, cherry and pipe tobacco. Sweet cherry fruit emerges in the mouth, along with hints of licorice, mint, sage and white pepper. A high-toned, vibrant, elegant wine, displaying a lovely sense of balance and delineation. The texture is glossy and the tannins are full but polished. Shows no trace of heaviness or hard edges in spite of its ample structure, and closes long and sweet. A deeply satisfying Brunello from this venerable estate, and the best in many years.
