The 2019 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru comprises three barrels from the domaine supplemented by one from another source. It has a strict nose: crushed stone, flint, red apples and then as it opens, a touch of kerosene. The palate is medium-bodied with immense concentration matched with a fine bead of acidity. There is some creamy oak to be subsumed, but I admire the persistence and length on the finish. Great potential.

Notes of pear, buttered orchard fruit, white flowers, peach and praline introduce Chartron’s 2019 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru, a medium to full-bodied, layered and elegantly textural wine that’s bright and precise even in this inherently rich, powerful vintage.
