(Bâtard-Montrachet- Domaine Jean Chartron) The 2020 Bâtard-Montrachet from Jean-Michel Chartron is another star of the vintage in the making. The beautifully pure and precise nose wafts from the glass in a mix of pear, fresh lemon, white peach, chalky soil tones, raw almond, citrus zest and stylish framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, bright and classy, with a great core of fruit, a proper sense of reserve out of the blocks, beautiful soil undertow, zesty acids and a very, very long, perfectly balanced and nascently complex finish.
(Jean Chartron Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru White) A discreet application of wood is also present here on the ripe aromas of white and yellow orchard fruit, particularly peach, along with a plethora of spice and pretty floral wisps. There is excellent volume to the sappy and delicious larger-scaled flavors that also display good power on the balanced and impressively long finish. This too needs better depth but that is all but assured to develop in time
