The 2020 Clos des Caillerets chez Chartron is even better! The stars must have aligned perfectly for this bottling, as I cannot recall ever tasting a more profound young vintage of this great cuvée. The bouquet soars from the glass in a complex blend of pear, apple, a stunningly complex base of chalky minerality, a touch of hazelnut, citrus zest, fresh nutmeg, vanillin oak and a potpourri of citrus blossoms in the upper register. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, deep and very, very long, with laser-like focus, stunning backend mineral drive and a very, very long, seamless and electric finish. Utterly brilliant premier cru! 2026-2060.
